Common questions

My lab report didn't import correctly

Extraction is automated and can misread an unusual layout, which is why Bearing asks you to review every value before it's saved. If a value looks wrong on the review screen, edit it there — or enter it by hand from Add → Enter manually. If a whole report fails, email it to us and we'll take a look.

A marker says "Not supported"

Bearing tracks a set of common blood markers. Anything outside that set — or a non-blood result such as a urine panel — is kept separate rather than mixed into a blood trend, because the two are measured on different scales.

Apple Health or Health Connect isn't showing any data

On iPhone, check Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Bearing and confirm the categories you want are enabled. On Android, open Health Connect, find Bearing in its list of apps, and confirm the categories you want are allowed. Some metrics — heart rate variability, respiratory rate, body temperature — come from a wearable such as a watch or ring, and won't appear without one. New data can also take a little time to sync.

Why does a range say "combined male/female"?

Some markers have different healthy ranges by sex. If you haven't set sex at birth in your profile, Bearing shows the widest combined range so it doesn't flag you against the wrong one. Adding it under Settings → Profile narrows the range to yours.

Is Bearing medical advice?

No. Bearing is an educational tool that helps you understand your own data and prepare questions for a clinician. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional care. If you think you may have a medical emergency, contact emergency services.

Export your data

Settings → Export my data produces a JSON file containing everything Bearing holds for you — profile, lab results, wearable summaries, and sleep detail.
